The President of the Law Society of Northern Ireland, Brian Archer has offered the Society's congratulations to Judge Patrick Kinney on his appointment to the High Court of Justice in Northern Ireland.
The Honourable Mr Justice Kinney was sworn into office by the Lady Chief Justice on Friday 16th December 2022.
Mr Justice Kinney was previously a managing partner of a solicitor practice based in Newry, a member of the Council of the Law Society of Northern Ireland and a Chairman of the Industrial Tribunals and Fair Employment Tribunal before taking up judicial appointment as a County Court Judge in September 2012.
Commenting the President said:
"On behalf of the solicitor profession I wish to congratulate Mr Justice Kinney on his appointment to the High Court in Northern Ireland and wish him every success in his new role.
I also wish to congratulate Presiding District Judge (MC) Mark McGarrity and Mr Mark Reel who were sworn in as County Court Judges in Northern Ireland."
Mr Justice Kinney joins former solicitors Mr Justice Huddleston and Mr Justice McFarland on the current High Court bench.
