NIJAC is inviting applications for the Office of Chief Social Security Commissioner and Chief Child Support Commissioner.
The Chief Social Security Commissioner and Chief Child Support Commissioner are the specialised members of the judiciary appointed to hear and determine appeals on points of law from Appeal Tribunals under the Social Security and Child Support legislation.
NIJAC is seeking to make one appointment for Chief Social Security Commissioner and Chief Child Support Commissioner
Eligibility:
To be eligible for the office of Chief Social Security Commissioner you must be either:
- a member of the Bar of Northern Ireland of at least ten years’ standing; or
- a solicitor of the Court of Judicature of Northern Ireland of at least ten years’ standing.
To be eligible for the office of Chief Child Support Commissioner you must be either:
- a member of the Bar of Northern Ireland of at least seven years’ standing; or
- a solicitor of the Court of Judicature of Northern Ireland of at least seven years’ standing.
As this is a joint office you are required to meet the higher eligibility criteria of ten years. Eligibility in terms of years’ standing will be determined by the anticipated date of appointment (1 June 2025).
Salary: This judicial appointment is full time salaried and pensionable.
Chief Social Security and Chief Child Support Commissioner - £180,522 per annum.
