The Housing Executive is now recruiting for an Assistant Solicitor to join their Legal Services team.

Location: Housing Centre, Belfast with regular travel throughout NI
Job Purpose
In this role, you will undertake and assist in the provision of professional and timely legal advice and assistance, in relation to a range of matters across the main functions of the team
You will be expected to work independently, under the supervision of the Senior Solicitors within Legal Services, to ensure the provision of a high-quality legal service to all levels of the organisation.
As an Assistant Solicitor, you will also undertake a programme of development within the Department, with a typical duration of two to three years, gaining skills and experience across a number of the Housing Executive’s legal work. You will then be appointed as a Band 7 Solicitor on satisfactory completion of the programme.
Essential Criteria
Applicants must provide evidence by the closing date for application that they meet the following essential criteria:
- Possess a degree or equivalent (Level 6) qualification.
- Be a solicitor of the Court of Judicature of Northern Ireland qualified to practice in Northern Ireland.
- Can demonstrate at least 24 months relevant post-qualification experience in the provision, or assisting in the provision, of legal advice and assistance in relation to either;
- The conduct of, or assisting in the conduct of, claims litigation matters in the High Court or County Court;
or - General title issues including undertaking residential and/or commercial conveyancing transactions.
- Can demonstrate:
- Excellent analytical thinking and decision making skills
- Strong organisational skills in order to manage a busy caseload
- Ability to work well under pressure of multiple deadlines
- Excellent interpersonal communication and influencing skills
- Willingness and ability to work collegiately
- Possess a current driving licence or have access to a form of transport that enables them to meet the requirements of the post in full.
Desirable Criteria
- Can demonstrate at least 24 months relevant post-qualification experience in the provision, or assisting in the provision of, legal advice and assistance and representation in relation to both areas of law specified at paragraphs a) and b) of Essential Criterion 3.
