Brendan Kearney & Co Solicitors is seeking an ambitious and motivated Medical Negligence Solicitor to join its busy and well-established practice in Northern Ireland. This is an excellent opportunity for a solicitor who is passionate about representing clients who have suffered as a result of clinical negligence and who is looking to develop their career within a supportive and dynamic team and under the guidance of the Medical Negligence Partner within the firm.

The Role

The chosen candidate will manage a caseload of new medical negligence matters with support from senior solicitors and will be given the opportunity to improve their knowledge base whilst managing new matters initially. You will provide expert legal advice, build strong client relationships, and work collaboratively with colleagues to achieve the best possible outcomes for clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing a caseload of medical negligence claims.
  • Advising clients throughout all stages of litigation.
  • Drafting legal documents, pleadings, and correspondence.
  • Instructing and liaising with medical experts and counsel.
  • Negotiating settlements and representing clients where appropriate.
  • Ensuring compliance with all regulatory and professional standards.
  • Contributing to the continued growth and success of the department.

About You

The successful candidate will have:

  • Qualification as a solicitor in Northern Ireland, or eligibility to practice in Northern Ireland.
  • Experience in personal injury litigation is essential whilst experience in medical negligence litigation is preferred.
  • Excellent communication, advocacy, and negotiation skills.
  • Strong analytical ability and attention to detail.
  • A compassionate and client-focused approach.
  • The ability to manage a busy caseload effectively and work to deadlines.
