As the 2024 Conveyancing Week draws to a close it has once again proven to be an outstanding success providing the perfect platform to highlight conveyancing and parties involved in Northern Ireland.
Organised by the The Law Society of Northern Ireland, Conveyancing and Property Committee the focus of this year’s Conveyancing Week has been on providing support, building relationships, widening engagement through a series of events.
These have included student events at Queen's University Belfast , Ulster University, and the trainee solicitors at the Institute of Professional Legal Studies with solicitors from across the jurisdiction promoting a career in conveyancing in high street practice.
The Committee also organised an important breakfast event at The Mac in Belfast with a panel discussion between The Law Society of Northern Ireland, RICS, NAEA Propertymark and Trading Standards.
The panel of experts took the occasion to consider how ‘Material Information’ works in practice in light of already established efforts between The Law Society of Northern Ireland, RICS and NAEA Propertymark to “front-load” information so as to streamline the sales process.
A new feature of Conveyancing Week was the first ever consumer event, featuring a panel session on a solicitor’s role in the house buying process and a mini fair with solicitor firms, NI Co-ownership, estate agents, mortgage brokers the property portals, Property News and PropertyPal.
Highlight of the week was the annual Conveyancing Conference hosted at Titanic Belfast on Tuesday 15 October 2024 attended by over 400 solicitors from across Northern Ireland.
The conference, which was supported by DUAL UK provided delegates with the opportunity to hear from a series of speakers and to receive important updates relevant to conveyancing practice.
This year’s Conveyancing Week has built on the success of 2023 with greater use of social media as a means of outreach and engagement with key audiences to provide guidance and to highlight the important role of solicitors in the conveyancing process.
As Conveyancing Week draws to a close, the Chair of Society’s, Conveyancing and Property Committee, Philip Armstrong said:
