The Law Society of Northern Ireland endorses the recent statement made by the International Bar Association and calls for urgent international action in response to the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

As legal professionals committed to upholding the Rule of Law and the protection of fundamental human rights, we are deeply concerned by the escalating crisis and its devastating impact on civilians. We are particularly alarmed by the worsening human rights situation in Gaza, including the obstruction of humanitarian aid and the use of starvation as a method of warfare. Such acts constitute serious violations of international human rights law.

We echo the calls of the international human rights community for an immediate ceasefire, unfettered humanitarian access, the release of hostages by Hamas and the pursuit of a just and lasting resolution to the conflict that respects and upholds human rights for all.
