Law Society President welcomes appointment of new High Court Masters

President of the Law Society of Northern Ireland Mark Borland has welcomed the appointment of Maria Glover and Orla Murray as Masters of the High Court at a swearing in ceremony held at the Royal Courts of Justice in Belfast.

Mark Borland said: “On behalf of the Law Society, I want to offer my warm congratulations to Maria and Orla who were sworn in as Masters of the High Court in Belfast. This is a significant personal and professional achievement that reflects the strong contribution that both have made to the administration of justice in Northern Ireland.

“It is particularly encouraging that we have seen the appointment of five women to judicial office in Northern Ireland in the last week. A legal profession that more closely reflects the society that it serves, at all levels, will generate more confidence and public trust.

“The Society congratulates Maria and Orla on their achievements.”
