Description

Women’s health claims continue to present some of the most complex and sensitive issues in clinical negligence practice. Delayed diagnosis, missed screening opportunities, fragmented care pathways and unconscious bias can all have profound and life‑changing consequences for patients – and significant legal implications for practitioners.

This in‑depth CPD event brings together leading medical experts and experienced clinical negligence practitioners to examine key women’s health issues through both a clinical and legal lens. The session will explore the diagnosis and treatment of endometriosis, menopause, and cancer screening, alongside the crucial question: does gender impact access to care, clinical decision‑making and treatment outcomes?

Attendees will gain valuable insight into how women’s health issues can give rise to clinical negligence claims and what practitioners need to understand when advising clients or defending claims in this evolving area.

This session is essential for solicitors practising in clinical negligence, personal injury, medical law or healthcare litigation, and for anyone seeking a deeper understanding of the intersection between women’s health, clinical practice and legal accountability.

There will be presentations from two medical professionals:

Dr Caoimhe Hartley, GP specialising in Women’s Healthwill discuss menopause, endometriosis and ‘mid-life health’ issues, including a focus on the symptoms, health implications and medical management options.

Dr Patrick Campbell, Consultant Gynaecologist with a subspeciality of Urogynaecology, will cover issues including poor bladder care and bladder dysfunction, cervical smear issues, mesh and the role of urodynamics.
