Warning to all solicitor firms and businesses
The Law Society has received reports from local solicitor firms of a man phoning them pretending to be from a local bank.
The man identifies himself as Andy Lawson
He says he is phoning about the firm's bank account and payments that had been set up.
He claims that 2 payments have been set up to two payees that did not seem to be usual payments; one to LPS for £35,000.00 and one to a named man called Sean for £12,500.00. He then suggests he will put a stop on the payments the fraud would be referred to the police and provides a reference number.
He says the account had been compromised that everything would need to be reset and then wants to go through the process of re-authorisation.
When challenged he hangs up!
At no stage does he ask for bank details, but this would happen when re-authorisation takes place.
The Bank in question have confirmed this is a bogus caller and scammer.
IF YOU RECEIVE A CALL FROM ANDY LAWSON OR FROM A BANK CHALLENGE THE CALLER
